Why do we have a Student ID Card?

The primary use of the Student ID Card is for identification purposes. Students are required to carry their ID card with them at all times whilst on campus.

The Student ID Cards also integrate with some of our digital platforms, allowing us to streamline some day to day tasks.

Which platforms are Student ID Cards used with?

Accepted Answer

Our Student ID Cards can be used for:
- Sigining in and out of school via the Student Kiosks in the Front Office or Student Services Office
- Signing in and out of the Health Centre
- Borrowing resources from the Library or ICT Services
- Bus travellers can use their Student ID Card to register as a passenger (Cowra and Grenfell runs only)
- Purchasing from the Canteen (requires an active Flexischools (https://www.redbendcc.nsw.edu.au/mobile-apps)account)
- Printing

What happens if a Student ID Card is lost or becomes damaged?

Students should report their card as lost to the Student Services Office. A replacement card will be ordered, with a replacement fee of $10 to be charged to the student's account.

What happens if a Student ID Card does not work with one or more digital platform?

Accepted Answer

If a Student ID Card is not working with one or more of the digital platforms available, the student should report the issue to the Student Services Office. The card will be given to ICT Services for testing. If the issues cannot be resolved, and there is no sign of damage, the card will be replaced at no cost.

What if the details on the Student ID Card are incorrect?

If the name or date of birth printed onto the Student ID Card is incorrect, a parent or guardian will need to contact the Front Office to advise that a correction is required. The school will then issue a replacement card at no cost. The ID card with the incorrect details will need to be handed back.

Can my Student ID Card be used outside of Red Bend Catholic College?

The Student ID Cards can be used when travelling to and from school via Forbes Bus Lines and Western Road Liners bus services. 
The Student ID Cards cannot be used to tap on or off of any form of NSW public transport. Students will still need a valid Opal card or other payment method to utilise those services.

Can another student use my child's Student ID Card at the canteen?

Yes this is possible - which is why it is important for your child to report a lost card as soon as they notice it missing. However, your child's photograph will appear on the canteen POS terminal, which will help our canteen staff identify any misuse of the Student ID Cards.

Can the shape of the Student ID card be modified? For e.g. to fit into a sleeve or wallet

Accepted Answer

The Student ID cards are the same dimensions as a standard  bank issued debit card, and will fit in most standard sized wallets or ID card sleeves/pockets. They contain embedded circuitry which enables them to be used with RFID readers at the canteen, the printers and tapping onto the buses.

Modifying the shape of the cards risks exposing the embedded circuitry, which could stop the RFID technology from working. If a card is found to be not working due to modifications, a replacement card will be ordered and the $10 replacement fee will be charged.
